Student Activity Fund

The Student Activity Fund (SAF) has been established under the General Education (GE) Foundation Programme since 2015. It aims to encourage student-proposed activities related to the two foundation courses provided by the GE Foundation programme. Through these activities, we hope to promote classics reading within and beyond the campus, to nourish an enjoyable atmosphere of classics reading, and to foster the appreciation of the impacts of classics on contemporary society.

The two foundation courses of GE Foundation programme, namely In Dialogue with Humanity and In Dialogue with Nature are both core-text oriented. Through reading ancient and modern classics, students acquire basic understandings of ideas that have shaped the contemporary world. Moreover, their academic ability is trained and their creativity, nourished. Students are encouraged to be “In Dialogue” directly with these classics, to broaden their horizon. Bearing such a spirit, the SAF aims to support students’ further development by funding student-generated and student-organized activities, promoting classics reading experiences that help them reflect on themselves and on their relation with society.
