The Office of University General Education (OUGE) is committed to quality teaching. OUGE has received honours and awards locally and internationally in recognition of its efforts and outstanding performance in General Education teaching practices.

University Education Award 2021

The  Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) team from the General Education Foundation Programme of the Office of University General Education including Dr SZETO Wai-man (team leader), Dr LI Ming, Dr WU Jun, Dr YIP Lo-ming and Mr YIU Tsz-kin received the University Education Award 2021.

2016 UGC Teaching Award

The General Education (GE) Foundation team has received a Hong Kong University Grants Committee (UGC) Teaching Award (Category Team) for its work in the design and implementation of the GE Foundation. The award is competitive. The CUHK team is one of the three awardees selected from among 22 entries from the 8 UGE-funded institutions. Prof. Leung Mei Yee, Dr. Julie Chiu and Dr. Wong Wing Hung are the team leaders who accepted the award during the award event on behalf of the entire team.

University Education Award 2016

The University instituted the University Education Award to honour academics for outstanding commitment to the promotion of teaching excellence. Recipients of the award are commended for their contributions to enhancing the student learning experience through curriculum design/development, for scholarship in teaching and learning, and for adopting learner-centred approaches. One of the awardees of the University Education Award 2016 was the University General Education Programme team (Prof. Leung Mei-yee, Dr. Chiu Chu-lee Julie and Dr. Wong Wing-hung). The University also nominated the awardees for the University Grants Committee Teaching Award 2016, and the University General Education Programme team won the award.

The AGLS Exemplary Program Award in 2015

In 2015, CUHK became the first institution outside the US to receive the Exemplary Programme Award for Improving General Education from the Association for General and Liberal Studies (AGLS), in recognition of its commitment to continuously improve teaching and learning approaches in general education based on students’ needs and learning outcomes.
