The General Education Foundation (GEF) Programme is a classics reading programme taught in small class that will be required of all CUHK students under the new four-year undergraduate curriculum. GEF is divided into two compulsory courses, namely "In Dialogue with Humanity" and "In Dialogue with Nature". Its content encompasses both the sciences and the humanities, connects the present with the past, and brings together the East and the West. Through the study of classics of different cultures and periods, students engage themselves in the discussion of critical issues of human society.
